हाँ यह एक किताब का नाम भी है जिसे हाल ही
में मैंने पढ़ा था...इसमें विश्व में महिलाओं पर हो रहे अत्याचार का एक भयावह चित्र
खींचा गया है...जिसके कुछ आंकड़े इस प्रकार है..
1. संयुक्तराष्ट्र के आकड़ों के
अनुसार लगभग 200 मिलियन महिलायें जनसांख्यकीय ढंग से “गायब” हैं, क्योंकि जैविक
मानकों में प्रत्येक 103 नवजात लड़कों पर 100 नवजात लडकियां होनी चाहिए..यदि इन
आकड़ों में लड़कियों की “मिसिंग” दिखाई दे रही है तो वे या तो मार दी गयी हैं या
उपेक्षा और दुर्व्यवहार से उनकी मृत्यु हो गई|
2. 2. आकड़ों के अनुसार प्रति वर्ष
लगभग 5000 महिलायें “रसोई दुर्घटना” में दहेज़ आदि कारणों से जला दी जाती हैं.
“A shocking number of women are killed
within their own walls through domestic violence. Rape and sexual exploitation remain, moreover, a reality for countless women; millions are trafficked; some sold like cattle.”
“A sustained
demographic ‘deficit’ of 100-200 million women implies that each year 1.5 to 3 million girls and women are killed through gender related violence. Incomparison: each year some 2.8 millionpeople die of AIDS, 1.27 million ofmalaria.3 Or, put in the most horrible terms: violence against women causesevery 2 to 4 years a mountain of
corpses equal to the Jewish Holocaust.”
“इस प्रकार हम कह सकते हैं कि हमारी धरती
पर मृत्यु का एक सबसे बड़ा कारण अन्य कारणों की अपेक्षा महिलाओं के विरुद्ध हिंसा
ही है.”
3. 3. विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन की एक रिपोर्ट के अनुसार विश्व में पाँच में से एक
महिला बलात्कार या बलात्कार के प्रयास से पीड़ित होती हैं, अन्य पश्चिमी देशों में
यह आकड़ा 6 में से 1 है.
“The number of women forced or sold into prostitution is estimated at anywhere
between 700,000 and 4 million per year. Between 120,000 and 500,000 of them are
sold to pimps and brothels in Europe alone. Profits from the sex slavery market are estimated at US$7-12 billion per year.”
Some facts on women’s status
In all manifestations of poverty, women tend
to fare worse than men:
• 66 per cent of the world’s
illiterate people are women.
• Women provide 70 per cent
of the unpaid time spent in caring for family members. This unpaid work provided by women is estimated at US$11 trillion
per year – onethird of the global GDP.
• Women own one per cent of
the land in the world.
• Women’s participation in
managerial and administrative posts is around 33 per cent in the developed world, l5 per cent in Africa and 13 per cent in Asia and the Pacific.
• There are only five women
chief executives in the ‘Fortune 500’
corporations, the most valuable publicly owned companies in the United States.
• Worldwide, only about
fourteen per cent of members of parliament are women.
Seven per cent of the world’s cabinet ministers are women.
आइए..!
रक्षाबंधन का त्यौहार तो हम मनाएं लेकिन ध्यान रखना होगा कि यह त्यौहार तक ही सीमित
न रहे..और...आधुनिक फैशन की दुनियाँ का हिस्सा भर बन कर न रह जाए..! वास्तव में
महिलाओं के प्रति सम्मान का भाव ही हमको इस त्यौहार को मानाने का अधिकार देता
है...!
